Highland Hills United Church offers combined In-Person and Zoom services at 9:30 am.
Join Highland Hills United Church on Friday August 8th at 11:00 am to participate in a special service of apology to the 2S and LGBTQIA+ community. The United Church of Canada will offer an historic apology for ways in which the denomination has hurt and harmed 2S and LGBTQIA+ communities within and beyond the United Church. The apology will take place in the context of a special livestreamed worship service on Friday, August 8. The service will be held at Knox United Church, 506 4 St. SW, Calgary, Alberta at 9:00 am MT (11:00 am Eastern Daylight Time). The service is open to anyone who would like to attend in person at Highland Hills United Church, 21 Newcastle Street in Minden; it will also be available on Zoom. Please Register here(opens in a new tab) if Zooming from home. Online participants are invited to have a bowl of water and branches with them, for a blessing at the end.
It is not too late to join the Brooksong Walkers for a stroll as they raise money for the Brooksong Retreat and Cancer Support Centre. The Brooksong Walkers invite you to consider joining them each Tuesday morning at 9:30 am at various locations. Please contact Pat Thornett at 705-286-3026 to find out the location. YWCA / HERS Please review the brochure you will receive this Sunday and consider donating to YWCA/HERS. For your taxable receipt please use the envelopes on the back table for your donation.
UPCOMING: Ice Cream Social You are invited to join with your HHUC church family after our morning church service on August 10th for a delicious ice cream treat.
Glena Koehler will be showing studio art works: drawings, paintings and ceramics from studies for her BFA, 1992 at Concordia University, Montreal. Hopefully, browsing will stimulate your own creative spirit. Sunday, August 10th 11:30am-4:30pm Stanhope Community Hall 1095 N. Shore Rd. cash sales optional: $50-$200 A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Brooksong Retreat and Cancer Support Centre.
Diner’s Club: Our Diner’s Club convener this year is Marie Lennard, and it is being held on the second Thursday of every month; next one is on Thursday August 14th If you are interested in any future dinners, please call Marie to get on the calling list at 705-286-3037.
