Weekly Church Announcements May 3, 2026

  • Dear Members, Adherents & Friends of Highland Hills United Church,

Attached are the Worship Order of Service for Sunday at 9:30 AM & Musings by Rev. Peter.

    Everyone Is Welcome!

    Some Additional Announcements and the

    Worship Instructions below...

Highland Hills United Church offers combined In-Person and Zoom services at 9:30 am.

Knitting For Warmth Tuesdays at 1:00 – 3:30 pm.  HHUC Lower Level.  For more information about KFW contact Mary at 705-286-5173.

MEDITATION has been part of the Christian tradition since the days of the desert mothers and fathers.  To continue that tradition we are gathering weekly to support one another on our meditation journey.  Brooksong Retreat and Cancer Support Centre is generously offering us space in their restful facility.  We gather on Tuesday afternoons at 1:30 pm, share in some learning, 20 minutes of silent meditation, along with a brief time of conversation.  If this form of spirituality calls to you, either let Marybeth Wilson know of your interest, or simply join us at Brooksong, 1150 Garden Gate Drive (at the back of Abbey Gardens).

For Earth Day and beyond, we are continuing to offer Scarlet Runner Beans to be planted in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of The United Church of Canada. There are also a variety of vegetable seeds that you can take to plant a row(s) for Minden Community Food Centre or flower seeds to create a butterfly garden. Consider allowing a portion of your lawn to become a garden of wildflowers for beauty and a source of food for many of God's little creatures.

The fearless Dripping Dynamos, a team from HHUC,  will once again be participating in the Jump in the Lake fundraiser for the Minden Community Food Centre. You are invited to join them by jumping or support them financially. Visit www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/minden-food-bank/p2p/JumpInTheLake2026/team/dripping-dynamos

The United Church of Canada is inviting members to join in person for the Moose Hide Campaign Day National Rally at Queen’s Park in Toronto on Thursday, May 14 at noon. Local carpooling is being arranged. The Moose Hide Campaign is more than a day; it is a mobilization against the ongoing national crisis of violence facing Indigenous women, girls, and 2S and LGBTQIA+ people. Contact Rev. Max if you are interested in attending.

Diner’s Club: Our Diner’s Club convener this year is Marie Lennard, and it is being held on the second Thursday of every month at noon; next one is on Thursday May 14th. If you are interested in any future dinners, please call Marie to get on the calling list at 705-286-3037.

    Sincerely, Rev. Max
