Some Additional Announcements and the

Worship Instructions below...

Highland Hills United Church offers combined In-Person and Zoom services at 9:30 am.

Hat burning workshop Aug. 15 at the church. 2 sessions 11 am or 2pm. All materials and a light snack provided. To register email Kenzie. Happytwigsshop@gmail.com. Cost is $95, or $60 for a ball cap, and a deposit of $20 required to hold your place.  Support Katy on the Pilgrimage to El Salvador. See attached flyer.

Outside is a Ctrl-ART-del theatre production being held at Highland Hills United Church on Aug. 18 and Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m. It tells the story of Daniel, who transfers high schools due to homophobia and bullying and decides it’s time to open up to the Gay-Straight Alliance. At his old school, his two friends are trying to start a GSA, but the audience is not receptive. Produced in partnership with Pride in the Highlands, admission is by donation at the door. For more information and to reserve a seat in advance, visit tickets.ctrlartdel.ca/tickets. See attached flyer.

For those traveling south on Hwy 35 be prepared for delays. The Hwy is going to be getting a new covering and the company is busy prepping the sides of the road in preparation for the new pavement from the turn to Haliburton south to The City of Kawartha Lakes boundary.

Diner’s Club: Our Diner’s Club convener this year is Marie Lennard, and it is being held on the second Thursday of every month at noon; next one is on Thursday, August 13. If you are interested in any future dinners, please call Marie to get on the calling list at 705-286-3037.

Compassionate Hearts: Community Cancer Support Circle is a welcoming and supportive gathering for people living with cancer, navigating life after cancer, and caring for someone living with cancer. It meets the Third Thursday of each month, 1:00–3:00 p.m at Brooksong Retreat & Cancer Support Centre. To register or for more information, contact Nancy at Brooksong: 705-754-2966, nancy@brooksong.ca.

Knitting For Warmth Tuesdays at 1:00 – 3:30 pm.  HHUC Lower Level.  For more information about KFW contact Mary at 705-286-5173.

Meditation has been part of the Christian tradition since the days of the desert mothers and fathers. Continuing that tradition, we gather weekly to support one another on our meditation journey. Brooksong Retreat and Cancer Support Centre offers us a restful space. We gather on Tuesday afternoons at 1:30 pm, share in learning, 20 minutes of silent meditation, along with a brief time of conversation. If this form of spirituality calls to you, let Marybeth Wilson know of your interest, or simply join us at Brooksong.

 Sincerely, Rev. Max
