Highland Hills United Church offers combined In-Person and Zoom services at 9:30 am.
We got the word, the oil tanks for our two furnaces need to be replaced. This gives us an opportunity to move to a more sustainable option for heating and cooling our Church. The Property Committee has examined and received quotes for a range of options. At the last Board Meeting it was decided to proceed with a Heat Pump system with a propane backup supplied by Walkers Heating who provided the best all round quote. Total cost of the system is approximately $50,000.
The Trustees of the Church have secured a favourable loan from the Toronto United Church Council to assist in the financing of the installation. This has been done with the approval of our Regional Council, ECORC. In order to reduce the amount of the loan needed, Highland Hills is launching a fundraising drive – “Warm Your Soul”. Here is how you can contribute.
· Plan to attend the “Warm Your Soul” dinner and concert here at HHUC on Friday, Nov. 13. A turkey dinner with all the trimmings at 5:00 pm followed by an Oh Canada! concert highlighting the music of Gordon Lightfoot and Neil Young at 7:00. Dinner: $35. Concert: $25. Buy tickets for either or both. Tickets will be available later this fall.
· Make a donation directly by:
ü Including in your weekly envelope noting the $$ amount for the furnace
ü Including in separate envelope marked Furnace Fund. Include your name for receipting purposes.
ü Include in PAR by arranging with Don Pflug. His email is donaldpflug@gmail.com

For those traveling south on Hwy 35 be prepared for delays. The Hwy is going to be getting a new covering and the company is busy prepping the sides of the road in preparation for the new pavement from Minden south to The City of Kawartha Lakes boundary.
Diner’s Club: Our Diner’s Club convener this year is Jean Anton, and it is being held on the second Thursday of every month at noon; next one is on Thursday, September 10. If you are interested in any future dinners, please call Jean to get on the calling list at 705-286-3756.

Documentary plus Panel at Northern Lights (Haliburton High School) 7:00 p.m. Admission by donation.
Thanksgiving Food Drive September 13th to October 11th You are invited to share food or money to purchase food for those in need. Let’s help others enjoy Thanksgiving too. Money does go farther as Minden Community Food Centre gets the best price for food.

Knitting For Warmth starts again September 15th. Tuesdays at 1:00 – 3:30 pm. HHUC Lower Level. For more information about KFW contact Mary at 705-286-5173.
Sunday, September 20, 2026, Trinity United Church in Bobcaygeon will be hosting the Moderator of The United Church of Canada, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Kimberley Heath, who will be leading worship that day. They're planning a warm welcome for Kim - and, they hope, for all of us as well! We are most sincerely invited to join them for worship that day at 10.30 a.m. and for lunch afterwards. The service at Highland Hills UC will continue as usual. We encourage carpooling for those who would like to go.
Our team, Brooksong Walkers have been part of the Brooksongs Summer Fundraiser 2026. We have raised $2,350.00 and are very grateful to those who donated to our team. The total raised by Brooksong as of Monday was $126,279.87 and they are pleased as their goal was $120,000.00. Canada Helps is keeping the site open for September for any late donations as the program is shorter this year.
Orange Shirt Sunday on September 27, 2026, leading up to Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 – Remember to wear orange.
A Time of Fellowship
Reminder that we need the congregation to sign-up to help set up, clean up and donate goodies for the after-church Time of Fellowship. Please sign up on the sign-up sheet by the kitchen opening.
